3.22 If there is a fear of a future event that one day will most likely happen in reality, and how I will cope? will the impact of the make me unwell /overwhelm me so I am unable to cope? how do I work with my protector part (2?) to minimise/manage this fear?

6.20 You said that fluctuating symptoms can be attributed to protector parts. Is there a difference between a fluctuating symptom and a dip? Both dips that can come out of the blue and, for instance, PEM.

10.26 I have a feeling that my back pain is to do with both protector parts, as I get flare-ups when I’m stressed (usually due to taking too much on), but also completely at random, eg lying in bed at night. When the flare-up/spasm is happening, how should I deal with my protector parts at that moment?

12.52 Is it worth creating a “back pain part” and talking to it, or should I figure out which underlying parts are involved, and speak to them directly? Because I don’t know who they are!

13.35 Is protector one linked to post exertional malaise and what could be its message? In relation to trying to build up my walking, I have occasionally pushed myself and increased more than I would normally and not experienced any post exertional malaise and then at other times, walked shorter distances to fit in with the perceived level I was at and then experienced the post exertional malaise so I find it confusing.

15.58 Ashok talks about the loop in the brain. Is this between protector one and the safety seeker or could it involve any of the parts?

17.39 When you talked about asking your protectors to give you another signal rather than a symptom how can you communicate with it does it understand language or should you use more somatic language? I get different symptoms depending on overdoing it socially or physically do I need to work separately with the symptoms or the protector?

21.44 My protector is scared of overwhelming the victim, should I work with the victim first before working with the protectors?

24.19 What do you mean by „agency” Do you mean responsibility for ourselves? The power to make decisions and plans?

25.05 When you say both protectors are doing the best for us, I don’t know, why the Prot 2 is sabotaging the process of getting more authentic by sending uncomfortable symptoms or shutting the system down by e.g. freeze response. It feels like Protector 2 is working against Protector 1 who wants us to be more authentic.

31.45 What do you mean by “mastering competence” that mean this core need is, that the WLS can manage all challenges which will come up?

33.11 An acoustic issue in min 45:52: You said something about the workshop in spring with the roadmap for Protector 2 something like: “controversing this part”?

35.42 I sometimes struggle to know what to ask my parts and this may be due to intense brain fog. Have you any suggestions?

37.53 When I do connect with Protector 2 I struggle to get a reply. e.g I have been working a lot with my rescuer parts and feel I have their trust to move and talk safely but when I try to connect to Protector 2 and ask why it does not trust me to do this safely I am getting no reply so feel I am going to be bedbound forever. I sat in the garden yesterday for a short while as I wanted to trial being out of bed. I moved very little to get there as I have a stairlift and only walked a few steps but I have PEM today. Any advice?

41.10 how do I convince my parts I am ready to move out safely into the world now as I have learned so much and I mostly prioritise myself?

42.33 somewhere you mentioned some differences in sending symtoms of the two protectors, which makes much sense for me: the protector II sending short term symtoms- for me dizzyness- and the protector I longterm pain because of stuck emotions- for me pain/stiffness in different parts of the bodies, where I already found out, they are linked to different parts. As I am for some time already stuck at the 80% state of healing, my concious mind kept thinking, this is a sign of protector II and I should focus on this and handling future events and triggers. But staying inside my window of tolerance and avoiding triggers, makes these symtoms of protector II disappear, the other ones sent by protector I stay active. Is it therefore helpful to actively go back to the events, moments or parts which created those stuck emotions? Is there a tip how to work with them? (For now I kept concentrating on the at the moment active parts and not too much going back to the perfect storm moments.)

46.17 another point makes much sense for me, somewhere you mention a moment in childhood, where the heart wants to avoid pain and makes you you leave the body and move into the head to find a solution, and you suppress emotions. So for me being a quite rational person all my life, I already noticed during parts work, that some emotions are quite good protected or sometimes even blocked (especially when I am trying to keep negative external emotions out). Is this a sign again, to try to find these moments in the past? Is there a tip how to find out what is /was the reason and which parts were/are active here? (I always had a quite good memory of my childhood, so conciously I don´t remember many negative moments…)

48.26 is it supportive to go back to the moments of childhood or the perfect storm to find out what parts where active at that time, or is it more helpful to work with currently active parts (sending current symptoms) and try to ask and listen if there are some connections to the past?

49.24 My most prominent symptom is the feeling of experiencing the world through a thick glass. I find this the hardest one to work with because it’s not a sudden onset and I don’t know what triggered it in the same way as with other symptoms. It often gets worse during or after more active days. I understand it to be the Protector and I tried communicating with parts “inside the circle” and the Protector with limited success. The only thing that helps is time. How can I work with this?

52.08 I have a problem thinking about things that have happened. Not just bad things, but also trivial things that happened recently, like recalling a relaxing walk the other day. When I try I get anxiety and then my brain (the Protector?) makes the memory fuzzy or my mind goes blank altogether. Why is this happening and how can I work with it?

54.23 Sometimes I struggle making even the simplest of decisions. I found, however, that if I turn inwards in the same way as with ART and ask “Which way do you want to walk” I can get a bodily sensation as an answer. I can’t tell why my body wants to “go left” but this is the only way to get a preference. It feels weird having to ask myself in this way and I feel sad that I can’t tell what I want. What can I do about it?

57.41 Can you say more about the relationship between protectors 1 and 2? My impression is that they don’t recognise each other at all and perhaps even work against or hinder each other. I tried to introduce them to each other, but that totally failed.

59.15 I have the feeling that the more I work with my security seeker (which I have been doing eagerly since your workshop), and the more success I have with it the more anxious my protector 2 becomes. Since then I have had even and for the first time problems sensing or visualising health on step 6 because there is a spontaneous inner resistance (which I think is the protector 2). What can I do here apart from working with a coach?

1.02.11 I am overwhelmed by the thought of retraining my parts for protector 1 in daily life and at the same time keeping old bad and sad childhood feelings safe to reassure my protector 2. What to do now, what is important? My protector 2 refuses totally at this time to work with a coach.

1.07.21 How to deal with this resistance to watching the video which I didn’t expect.

1.09.50 how can I process stuck feelings? When I did understand you right there are unprocessed feelings stuck in the body and cause problems.

1.11.33 You often tell us about the importance of the short (and short short) versions. I love those reminders as I am trying to implement those into my day. I have been trying for almost two years though and most of the time I just forget about them, even though they are so helpful to me when I can´t do the longer versions. I don´t think this is my perfectionist speaking, as most of the time I really forget that this is an option and don´t interrupt the loops. I think one of the reasons is that I often don´t feel a difference after doing them. Do you have any recommendation about how to remind oneself about them, to make it easier to use them or maybe how you were able to do them? I think this would be of great help to me

1.15.32 How are the protector parts and the other parts working against each other (you said so)? I thought they are kind of working together, when the protector can even tell us what part needs to be worked with most to calm it (the protector) down too.

1.17.37 I realised that my protector wants me to walk my own way, instead of following a path that is not mine/not for me and not healthy, like I did for years. How can I find out more about my own true way, as it is not completely clear for me yet?

1.20.10 I was wondering if there are particular kinds of visualisation that can be helpful for protector parts, or if going with your instincts to get the positive feelings is always what’s most important? When I’m working with the protectors in ART, they love relaxing and peaceful visualisations rather than anything demonstrating energy or resilience etc. I try those other visualisations from time to time, but they never feel as uplifting.
