"I have taken all Julie's workshops and find them well thought out and presented in a way that is safe and gentle, with permission to absorb the material at one's own pace. The information I have found to be invaluable in working with my parts. I highly recommend these workshops to anyone who is wanting and willing to put in the work to really work and learn about the various aspects of self and how it impacts the healing journey."
Who is this Workshop Designed for?
You might be the one everyone relies on; the one who gives, supports, and always shows up. But behind that, there may also be exhaustion, resentment, or a quiet sense that your own needs keep getting pushed aside.
This workshop will help you understand why that pattern exists by exploring the Helper Part—how it shows up in your life, and how to create a more balanced, sustainable way of supporting others without burning out.
This workshop is designed for:
• Those who want to better understand their Helper Part
• Those who have completed the Gupta Program and already have a foundational understanding
• Those with an open mind who are ready to question and reshape their beliefs
• Those who feel they are constantly pouring from an empty cup and putting their own needs last
"The Helper workshop was so thoughtful and relevant. I'm recommending it to all my friends!"
What You’ll Experience in This Workshop
In this workshop, you’ll begin to gently explore and understand the part of you that feels responsible for others, often at the expense of yourself.
Together, we will:
• Recognise how your Helper Part shows up in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours
• Understand how and why this part developed, and the role it has played in your life
• Explore the beliefs that drive your need to help, give, or put others first
• Uncover the deeper needs behind the Helper Part and what it is truly seeking
• See how this part connects with your Inner Critic and other patterns within you
• Understand how the Helper Part can create protective patterns, plateaus, and internal blocks
• Understand the impact this dynamic can have on your energy, wellbeing, and health
• Begin to shift your relationship with the Helper Part in a more compassionate and balanced way
• Learn how this part can support you—without leading to burnout or self-neglect
• Be guided through a gentle process to connect with and begin healing your Helper Part
"Really enjoyed the Helper Part workshop, Julie gave great awareness of how this part was formed and the different ways it exists within, physically, mentally and emotionally. As someone who is an “emotional helper”, I had many ‘Ah-haa’ moments, and this awareness in itself has become my new superpower!! I could feel my part relaxing just from the information alone. Thanks, Julie!"

"This was really a lovely workshop again. This time I saw you more relaxed than in the other ones. I appreciated that you took more 1 min silence, even spontaneously, when you needed. Wonderful self-care role model!!! The recordings are always very valuable for me. When re-watching the workshop, I gained even more insights, and I could see so clearly why I was so much overwhelmed in the last years of my working time (as an unhealthy helper). And I still don’t want to get back to it. Your insights about the interactions of inner critic, helper and victim were so enriching for me! And how I can enable others to fall into victim or inner critic by not asking if they want help and in not believing in their ability to cope… very interesting and helpful!!! Thank you, Julie!"
Additional Q&A
0.00 Welcome
0.10 I’m thinking about writing a succinct letter to my dad to decline being the executor of his will.
And giving it to him in person.
-I want to suggest a third party to execute the will.
-I feel like I’m letting my dad down. Although I don’t think he’ll care. It’s my Helper part that I’m so
tired of playing out.
6.16 Could you elaborate a little on how breaking the cycle and/or supporting the relationships within
the triangle of Helper, IC and Victim could look like concretely? Does it involve working with each one
separately, and /or talking to them about their relationships? – or…?
11.36 When I work with my Helper when she seems to be focused on helping me, I can sense my
Maximiser coming in and demanding that we do more. Then the Inner Critic shows up with “you have
not done / are not doing enough”. And then my Worried Part gets really upset – she is very worried
about the whole inner concert. She then demands that the Helper help her. What a tohubohu! How
to calm them all down??? By now I have so many parts to work with, I don´t know where to start – or
stop!
16.54 The emotional helping is the strongest aspect of my Helper. But it upsets my insecure
attachment part (Insecure Ida) when my Helper turns away from „helping others“. She fears that
„Emotional Eloise“ will show up and create a wave of upset if the Helper has taken a break. Another
triangle to untangle?
22.36 First, I totally agree with your story about your husband and the helper role during sickness. I
noticed that this is a big issue for me, probably I used to be the helper in our relationship and with the
illness I tried to give him some regularly tasks around the kids to make free time for me, not to help
them anymore all the time. But if either I am having a bad day or he himself is stressed, he drops them
all, gets into freeze and disappears into his room for quite some hours. So of course I am automatically
”grabbing the bags” and stepping in, no matter what my condition is at the moment and afterwards I
do feel anger about stepping out of my boundary and sadness for no one thanking me for doing so.
So I have several issues around that:
25.23 I don’t trust him that he can step out of his victim role and take over the helper role, as he never
did while I am around (I know, he could do it, while I am out of the house, but my pacing attempt
mostly just wants me to have a quiet evening at home, on “his turn”-days or evenings). Are there any
proposals how I can manage to support him to feel responsible for those moments- or helping me to
not to step in and stop fearing the consequences- like tired, hungry or sad kids?)
31.54 It became quite a trigger for me already just seeing him being either stressed, sick or
overwhelmed, I suppose then I already know the loop following: me taking over, adding his tasks to
mine and steeping out of my boundaries. And he himself as well, as soon he notices that I am having
a bad day, he gets stressed and has to emphasize how much work he is doing already, fearing he needs
to take over some of mine. How can I step out of this and staying more calm- as actually these are not
that many tasks of him, so I do have some “energy saving” versions for these days anyway.
35.34 I do think these mechanisms also affects my difficulties with pacing and allowing me to spend
some energy on joy, as I always feel the need to save some energy till the evening, for one of those
moments, where I unexpectedly need to take over extra tasks, or solve emotional or real issues with
my family- and always be prepared for that. Which of course rarely gives me the feeling it is save to
relax or save to spend energy on something not needed, just joyful. Is there I way to help to feel save
anyway and skipping this worry?
37.32 I have a strong tendency to help people avoid the same emotional pitfalls I’ve had to work
through. So I love to share books or resources of things I’ve learned. But then when they don’t read
them or make the same mistakes I did, which I feel could have been avoided, I feel very hurt and take
it personally. Then I either make sure I never do anything like that to get hurt again, or I keep trying
different methods until I get the result I want, which never works.
43.42 I don’t like feeling hurt and disappointed, so I’ve noticed I will sacrifice my own needs to make
sure other people don’t feel hurt or disappointed by things I can control, even something like what to
eat for a meal. If they don’t enjoy it or didn’t get what they want I feel it is my fault. But then I don’t
feel like I get enough appreciation for the sacrifices I’m making to keep everyone content, and I fall
into the victim mode and get quite resentful.
47.34 I hadn’t really considered myself much of a helper until you opened my eyes to it – thanks for
the great session!
I’m having a hard time expressing any questions because I see myself so clearly in most of the details
you provided. It’s the how to back off part that I’m having trouble identifying with because that part
is unknown to me. I recognize that these questions are a bit broad in nature and understand if you’re
not able to address these with such limited context.
48.40 Is it a helper part when I find myself helping without even being asked to help? Or is there
something else at play here?
49.15 I definitely have feelings of not having done enough if someone in my life has failed. How do I
stop feeling so responsible for keeping others from failing? Perhaps this is a perfectionist part working
together at making others perfect?
53.51 My disabled adult son is always going to need some additional help, whether he recognizes it
or not, and quite frankly if he wants it or not. How do I provide enough support without taking over
and feel ok knowing that I could have done more?
56.06 I am relieved to finally be grasping why my helper part needed to work so hard. She wanted
protection back. My rumination are so stuck in the past and bitter. I helped so many people and
nobody helped me when I got really sick.
58.12 My question is; are emotionally immature people drawn to helpers?
1.03.08 I am a person that always checks on other people’s mood and well-being. It seems like their
mood is contagious and can kick me out of my window of tolerance very easily. I always try to fix
their mood to feel safe again I guess. Sometimes I even neglect my needs so that everything stays
balanced. It’s like I’m always checking the outside and don’t look at myself. That keeps me staying on
high alert. Any practical advice how to act in those situations when someone is in a bad mood
sending out bad vibes?
1.07.57 In my family all the females have extreme helper parts. Being a good daughter, friend or
whatever means helping others all the time no matter what – even when nobody asks for help. They
get sort of offensive and intrusive (don’t know if those are the right words) when you don’t want
what they offer you. I have no idea how to set boundaries without offending them and being
thought of as an ungrateful person.
1.14.14 You mentioned that it’s the helper instead of the wise loving self when you see it. I got
pretty confused because I spent a lot of time to make up my wise loving self. What does it look like?
What is it wearing and so on. That’s what we are told to do in some of the Guptacises. Does that
mean that I’m blended with my helper part and not in Self? How do I know?

"I've learned so much from the 'Understanding Your Parts' series. The sessions are so well put together, supportive and enjoyable. Julie's passion for this work, and her love for all parts, is quite contagious! I started my first workshop wanting to find out how to 'fix' a part, but this series has brought so much more curiosity, compassion and understanding to how I relate to parts, and I've had plenty of insights and shifts as a result. Thank you so much, Julie!"
